Recently O-I employees in Americas North and Americas South took to the local streets, volunteering their time to do good for the planet.
In Toledo, Ohio, O-I employees rolled up their sleeves to volunteer with Partners for Clean Streams (PCS), a local organization, dedicated to the health of the rivers and streams, and the people who use them. As part of a partnership with PCS, every year O-I employees volunteer in their program, “Clean Your Streams”.
16 volunteers spent the day at a local metropark picking up trash and debris from the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio and recorded data for the Ocean Conservancy. O-I volunteers were a part of a larger group of about 900 people, and in total they helped removed over 18,000 pounds of debris from the water.
In a similar fashion, O-I employees in Brazil, organized waste collection efforts at Arpoador Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, inside the O-I manufacturing plant in São Paulo, at the Recife Zoo and at the College of Application in Vitória de Santo Antão. Through these efforts, O-I was able to promote the cleanliness of beaches and public spaces, raise awareness of the benefits of glass and educate communities on proper waste disposal practices.
At O-I, volunteer and environmental efforts are a foundation to our core values. We strive every day to be responsible, safe and active in the community, promoting the preservation of a cleaner, purer and more sustainable world.
